The disappearance and murder of journalist, Jamal Khashoggi continues to capture the international headlines. Today Saudi king, Salaman and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the family members of Khashoggi in Riyadh. The visit comes after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called on Saudi Arabia officials to release the body of the slain journalist. South African aid organisations have been lauded for their humanitarian efforts in the Syrian conflict. The conflict began with the Arab spring in 2011 and now has degraded into a civil war whereby there are many armed factions fighting for control. To give us more insight and to explain South Africa's humanitarian role in Syria is Afro Middle East Centre Executive Director Naeem Jeenah.
Libya's Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Maiteeg has labelled Khalifa Haftar's troop invasion of Tripoli as a coup. Maiteeg says Haftar is trying to take power by force, to control the city and get back to a period of military rule in Libya. His comments come in the wake of Libya's U.N. backed Government of National Accord's call to end the fighting. For more on this story, we are joined on the line by Ebrahim Deen.
