Conference on Migration that AMEC co-hosted with the French Institute of South Africa

Throwback to May 15, when IFAS-Recherche had the pleasure to organise a conference hosted by specialists of migrations in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle-East.
The first panel composed of Tanya Zack (School of Architecture and Planning, Wits), Jalal al-Husseini (Ifpo (Institut français du Proche-Orient)) and Jean-Pierre Misago (African Centre for Migration & Society, Wits University) presented their papers on refugees and their social integration.

Then, the second panel with Jihane Sfeir (OMAM/REPI), Matthieu Rey (Wits History Workshop, IFAS-Recherche, IremamCNRS) and Loren B. Landau (ACMS, Wits) dealt about migrant categorisations.

Bruce Clarke presented his project "Sea ghosts", an artistic approach to giving visibility to migrants crossing the Mediterranean.

The third and last panel with Lukas Spiropoulos (History Workshop, Wits), Dostin Lakika (ACMS, IFAS-Recherche) and Ivan Panović (School of Humanities, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) presented different views on migrations and transformations.
